We Can
2015 – 2017
Collaboration with Alina Schmuch HD Video, 16:9We Can is an episodic film project about the buildings that are transformed into asylum centers and the temporary structures being built for the high amount of refugees that are coming to Germany since 2015. Different episodes show the facilities - the infrastructures of shelter on site and reactions of opposing political and social groups. The video examines the way how the german state, its political organisations and its citizen are trying to find an emotional and structural way to deal with the situation.The current situation is filmed with a neutral view. By documenting what is happening in the world we try to understand and position us in times where political activism seems not relevant anymore. It was shown at the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westphalen, at the Jan Van Eyck Academy and Museum of Contemorary Art, Eupen, Belgium.
